Sharebay is undergoing some operational revisions that change how members interact with each other and the Sharebay inventory.
As mentioned previously, we have replaced the traditional Gave/Got scores with a simpler ‘three stripe’ system representing the Trust Score of the member.
Because Sharebay is a collaborative effort, members are asked to provide something of value to our inventory that others may enjoy. To date, there has been unfair pressure on a minority who provide offers of goods and services, while other members either just take or contribute nothing.
Obviously a collaborative library site will not succeed under those conditions, so we are making these changes from today.
This means that, from today, a member can set a Stripe requirement for their offers from 0 to 3. Setting this requirement means that a member will need to have that minimum Trust Stripe in order to avail of the offer. Trust Score can be earned easily however by either listing an offer on the site, or by fulfilling a member’s request. (Having one live offer on the site earns the minimum 1 Trust point)
New offers by default are open to all members, but we recommend if sharing a higher value item to set a Stripe requirement, so you know you are sharing it with someone who is actively engaging and sharing with other members.
As you may already know, we’ve also made it easier than ever to list an offer, if you’re unsure what to list. Our templates, based on user suggestions and tailored to your particular skills and interests, make it incredibly easy to offer an item or skill in just a few clicks.
I hope you can appreciate the necessity of this change and will do the right thing to help us build our inventory. There is no requirement on existing members to earn Trust Score to retain membership, however you will need a Trust Score of 1 or more to reply to offers and contact other members from today.
Many thanks for your patience and continued support!
