Stay at a mountain retrait in central Portugal

Contenda strives to be a place where people, local or internationalist, on invite, can meet and chill. If someone wants to dig around, pick fruits,... it can be accommodated for.

The site consist of 4.2 acres over 8 adjacent terrasses. A small stream flows through the meadow. There is a variety of fruit trees, ruins, a small house with solar power and a diesel generator as well as a for now stationary vintage camper van with its own wood stove.

While at conception facilities are very basic we do think this can be an incentive to either roll up the sleeves, dig into the coffers or debate world poverty, scarcity vs abundance, the importance of the free market, sustainability, communalism, ...

We see Contenda mainly as a meeting place to float ideas around a money-less society, new economy, demoicracy, Marshall Ganz, Hannah Arendt, ..

As an evolving initiative the place wants to provide both continuity and opportunities.
For the site this entails it either can be rewildered or developed. Both options are achievable.
